A careful examination for suspicious changes in the mouth, lips and related oral tissues.

Screening may include visual and clinical examination of oral tissues and assessment of persistent ulcers, patches, lumps or other changes.
Screening does not by itself diagnose cancer. Suspicious findings may require further testing, referral or biopsy. Persistent or changing lesions should be assessed promptly.
Discuss symptoms, expectations and treatment goals.
Clinical examination and appropriate diagnostic records.
Review suitable options, benefits, limitations and aftercare.
A consultation and examination are the starting point. The appropriate treatment depends on your diagnosis, oral health, goals and available alternatives.
The clinician reviews your history, examines the mouth and uses appropriate diagnostic records when needed before discussing a personalized plan.
Aftercare depends on the procedure. You will be given instructions relevant to your treatment and advised when a review is needed.
This page is for general educational information and does not replace a clinical examination or individualized diagnosis. Treatment suitability, risks, alternatives and expected outcomes vary by patient.
Professional examination of persistent ulcers, unusual patches, swellings and other oral changes, with specialist assessment and biopsy planning when clinically indicated.
A careful examination of the lips, cheeks, tongue, floor of mouth, palate, gums and other oral tissues, together with relevant history.
A mouth ulcer, red or white patch, unexplained lump, persistent pain, difficulty swallowing or other change lasting around two weeks deserves professional assessment.
Suspicious findings may require closer review, imaging, referral or biopsy depending on the clinical appearance and history.
Tobacco, areca nut/supari, alcohol and previous oral lesions can increase concern, but oral changes can occur without these factors.
Screening does not diagnose cancer by appearance alone. A suspicious lesion may need biopsy and laboratory examination for a definitive diagnosis.

Patients with non-healing ulcers, red or white patches, unexplained oral growths, persistent swelling or other concerning changes should seek timely professional evaluation. A screening visit does not by itself diagnose cancer; additional investigations may be required.
